Liothyronine is the most potent form of thyroid hormone. Chemically, it is nearly identical to triiodothyronine (T3). Takie jak, it acts on the body to increase the basal metabolic rate, affect protein synthesis and increase the body's sensitivity to catecholamines (such as adrenaline) by permissiveness. The thyroid hormones are essential to proper development and differentiation of all cells of the human body. These hormones also regulate protein, fat, and carbohydrate metabolism, affecting how human cells use energetic compounds.
T3 is a regulator of the oxidative metabolism of energy. When you take liothyronine sodium it will increase the uptake of nutrients into the mitochondria, which raises activity in the oxidative metabolic pathway. This causes everything to work harder within the organism and makes the body demand more fuel.
Liothyronine is used to treat an underactive thyroid (niedoczynność tarczycy). Zastępuje lub dostarcza więcej hormonu tarczycy, which is normally made by the thyroid gland. Liothyronine is a man-made form of thyroid hormone.
