Miglyol 840 is Propylene Glycol Dicaprylate/ Dicaprate. Derived from saturated plant fatty acids with chain lengths of C8 and C10, Miglyol 840 offers excellent emollient properties. It is a translucent liquid with no odor and offers good solubility characteristics. Miglyol 840 is pure – it's free from additives, catalyst residues, and solvents and due to a tightly controlled manufacturing process, contains very few microorganisms. Miglyol 840 is available in 1 liter, 1 gallon, 2.5 gallon and 5 gallon varieties.
MIGLYOL 840 is a good solvent, like other low-viscosity hydrophilic ester oils. Some plastics, especially those containing plasticizers, tend to turn brittle or to expand. Polystyrene (PS) and Poly Vinyl Chloride (PVC) are no suitable packaging materials. Be careful when selecting resistant seal closure material and be careful of sufficient pull power because MIGLYOL 840 has a very high tendency to migrate.
