Ciclesonide is a glucocorticoid used to treat asthma and allergic rhinitis.Ciclesonide is a novel inhaled glucocorticoid asthma treatment and belongs to the adrenal cortex hormones. Similar drugs include beclomethasone dipropionate, budesonide, and fluticasone propionate. The product is inactive. Formal administration, which is activated on the spot by endogenous esterases in the airways, converts the target organ into an active ingredient in the lung; once activated, it exhibits high local anti-inflammatory activity.
Ciclesonide is an aerosol that can be inhaled orally using an inhaler. Ciclesonide is usually inhaled twice a day. Try using ciclesonide at about the same time every day. Follow the instructions on the prescription label carefully and ask the doctor or pharmacist to explain any parts that you do not understand. Use ciclesonide inhaler exactly as indicated. Do not use it more or less, or use it more often than doctors.
Talk to your doctor about how to use other oral and inhaled medications to treat asthma during inhalation therapy with clonade. If you are using any other inhaled medication, ask your doctor if you should inhale these medications before and after inhalation of ciclesonide inhalation. If you are taking oral steroids such as dexamethasone, Medrol or Rayos, your doctor may want to start reducing your steroid dose at least one week after you start using ciclesonide.
